ASAP is a platform that connects carriers with shippers on the modern transportation marketplace. The company is at the beginning of its market path. Therefore, to start their operations, ASAP needed a dashboard and two perfectly-designed applications that would be useful and transparent to their target groups. Working together, we made it happen.

Challenge

The freight market in Poland is very scattered. Even though, a large number of drivers do not use their cars’ potential fully. Most importantly, they have to bid for every contract. On the other end, there are shippers waiting long for a driver. Problems connect with financial liquidity, trust, and control. The idea of the ASAP app was to give a solution beneficial for both carriers and shippers, accessible everywhere.

We faced the challenge to create a tailor-made product to fulfill the requirements of both target groups. Above all, the goal of the app was to supplement empty loads for carriers as well as offer reliable service and competitive prices for shippers. Certainly, we had to develop transparent, practical and easy-to-use apps for both parties. High security was also crucial.

Process

Throughout the whole app development process, we worked very closely with ASAP. We started the project with workshops to define target groups. Moreover, we developed detailed maps of both applications, create empathy maps, behavioral profiles of users, value propositions and establish must-have functionalities for MVP.

After that, together we decided to create a cross-platform app to make the development faster. We chose the Ionic Framework to get access to native device’s features and take good care of the frontend. Meanwhile, we organized the development process with the Scrum framework. Our team was regularly checking how target groups respond to planned application functionalities by performing AB tests.

We used the artificial intelligence algorithm to calculate the estimated cost of transport. What is more, our experts diversified the original idea with such features as geolocation or the ability to rate a driver.

Result

Within four months, we the MVP of the full solution. We used the Ionic Framework, therefore we were able to create five applications (two for iOS, two for Android and also a Progressive Web App) with only one source code.

What is more, workshops and AB test with target users allowed us to create a solution that perfectly fits their needs. The final version of the app received positive opinions from drivers and shippers during the alpha tests. Moreover, thanks to adding features like geolocation, in-app payments and creating an algorithm that calculates the cost of the transport, we equipped carriers and shippers with a useful and beneficial tool.
